ABOUT US

We are an Occupational Therapy team working together since 2007. We value a client-centered approach which means that we collaborate with the individual client to set goals that they have identified as important.  We believe that life balance = wellness.  Using this core value as a framework, we work with our clients to establish their unique life balance.  Our holistic approach identifies all aspects of the individual, including learning preference and sensory needs.  We then establish a solid foundation on which we build skills to help our client fully participate in productive roles.  Finally, we empower our clients with opportunities and tools to develop sustainable self-advocacy skills.

She is passionate about  understanding each individual's unique sensory system and how sensory responses influence emotional regulation and learning.  She loves to empower individuals to find out what their sensory preferences are and how to take care of themselves in challenging environments.  Self-actualization and self-advocacy are her ultimate goals for each individual she serves.

Rachel Renick, COTA/L
Autism Consultant

"Identifying and working to remove barriers to allow an individual to fully participate is the most empowering thing I do for individuals.  'THRIVE' is not just the name of our group, but how we hope to see our clients live."

Rachel Renick has worked as a school-based therapist for 21 years in the Portland metro area.  Her career began in early intervention, and has continued to extend to the school-age population including transition age students.  This unique opportunity to follow student progress through each developmental stage has provided insight and highlighted the need for post-secondary comprehensive transition services.

After earning her Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Design, she pursued an Associate in Occupational Therapy.  Following years of practice as an Occupational Therapy Assistant in both mental health and school programs, she decided to focus her studies on Autism and completed the certificate program at Portland State University.  She is most interested in using her education to evaluate environmental impact on occupational performance and help individuals develop strategies to overcome these challenges.

Both therapists are vendors for Vocational Rehabilitation and Portland Metro Brokerages.
